Following a barely noticeable sound, a body hit the floor.

Brock's marksmanship was impeccable, the bullet drilled perfectly into the back of the guard's head.

The combination of subsonic ammunition and a military-grade suppressor produced a sound quieter than an ordinary cough, and the weakened projectile would not exit the body, preventing additional impact noise from the bullet hitting other objects.

If the people inside their houses were already asleep, they would not have noticed that someone was shooting.

With the guard out of the picture, Bravo Team continued moving forward.

Upon reaching the dead armed soldier, Brock professionally delivered a follow-up shot, then squatted down to remove the magazine from the guard's AK and clear the chamber as well.

This is one of the basic procedures in CQB operations, aimed at preventing enemies from just picking up a weapon and firing again.

While Brock was unloading the gun, the rest of the team did not stand still, they carried out their respective tasks with a clear division of labor.

Long Zhan took out the folding ladder he had brought, extending it towards a window on the second floor that had a laser pointed at it.

Here is where the laser served its purpose, allowing them to find suitable points of entry into the building without having to make noise by communicating.

Jason lifted the body blocking the doorway and dragged it to the shadows of a nearby corner, clearing the entrance for Team Two to quickly enter.

The guard by the back door had fallen asleep, and the wooden door he was guarding was slightly open as well.

This spared them the trouble of having to breach the door.

“Move!”

Jason signaled Team Two to advance into the building.

Clay, the point man for Team Two, holding a standard 10.5-inch short-barreled HK416D rifle in a standard stance, went through the door first.

The short barrel allowed for greater maneuverability in combat in cramped spaces like this.

Trent followed closely behind him, entering in a single file.

Sonny, the last to enter, took the leash from Brock before entering and led Cerberus, the military dog, to the first floor.

This was an arrangement made before departure.

Although the specially trained military dog Cerberus already knew how to climb stairs, and going up to the second floor was not a challenge, using him to locate the hostage was a bit of a waste. After all, Cerberus was a dog specialized in bomb detection and narcotics.

The terrorist they were after, Samir, was an expert in making homemade bombs. All the explosives strapped to the martyrs he had incited to carry out suicide attacks were made by him.

Someone like him, who was constantly making these homemade explosives, would undoubtedly have some near him, regardless of where he was.

The bomb detection dog was a perfect fit for this task.

Taking the bomb detection dog to search the first floor had a high chance of detecting explosives through its sense of smell, potentially leading them to the entrance of the basement they were searching for.

Team Two entered the first floor and began their assault, while Long Zhan set up the ladder.

As the machine gunner in the team, Long Zhan stepped aside to guard against potential dangers in the alley, effectively covering Team One's back.

With no worries about their back, Brock, holding his assault rifle, led the way.

He was the first to climb up the stairs, carefully peering through the open window to observe the situation inside the room before entering.

Finding no one inside, Brock climbed into the room.

As soon as he landed, he aimed his rifle at the doorway and gestured out the window to indicate that the room was now secure. Jason, who was keeping a close eye on the window, received Brock's signal and climbed up the ladder.

Once inside, Jason did not signal out the window, as Long Zhan, responsible for guarding their rear, was focused on the alley's exit and could not see what was happening at the window behind him.

Therefore, Jason opted for another method, pressing the left button on the PTT (Push-to-Talk) transmitter twice in quick succession.

A PTT transmitter typically has 2 to 3 buttons corresponding to different communication channels, allowing for quick communication without having to manually adjust the channels.

As the team leader, Jason's PTT had three buttons.

The front button was for contacting the operations center, the right side for internal team communication, and the left side was now set for intra-group communication.

Pressing it allowed communication on the corresponding channel, with a brief noise indicating each press.

Long Zhan heard two consecutive bursts of noise in his earpiece, signaling that it was safe to continue, and without hesitation, he slung his gun over his back and climbed into the second-floor room via the folding ladder.

Once inside, he remembered to stow away the ladder properly, securing it back on his tactical backpack.

The three members of Team One successfully infiltrated the second floor. From this empty room, they began to radiate throughout the entire second floor, eliminating any remaining threats and locating the hostage they came here to rescue. However, while this room was temporarily safe, what awaited them outside after opening this room’s door was entirely unknown.

At that moment...

Crack, crack.

Two consecutive gunshots suddenly rang out from downstairs, breaking the silence in the room.

Muffled by the suppressor, the sound was akin to a bamboo stick hitting the floor, not very loud, but still clearly audible even to them on the second floor.

Clearly, Team Two had discovered armed targets and, unable to take them out silently, had to resort to gunfire to eliminate them.

If this were an ordinary residential building, the barely audible sound of gunfire would hardly raise any alarm.

Unfortunately, this was a terrorist hideout, and they already knew someone was coming for them.

Their vigilance would unsurprisingly be very high.

As an experienced special operations team leader, Jason could basically confirm that these two gunshots had initiated the combat within the building.

Although no other sounds could be heard right now, there was no telling how many people were hiding in the various corners of this building, armed and ready.

As soon as Bravo Team appeared in their line of sight, these armed individuals would not hesitate to raise their weapons and open fire on them.

Now, they were in real danger.
