"Long, you are in charge of the first floor. Be careful and contact us immediately if anything happens."
Everyone entered the house and closed the door again. Jason assigned a task to Long Zhan while taking off his black robe and heading down the stairs to the second floor.
The other members of Bravo Team followed closely behind.
In this small town with single-story buildings, the balcony of a two-story building was already the highest point, allowing for a clear view of the target house.
"Put on your gear and install the night vision cameras. I'll take the first shift."
As soon as Jason reached the second floor, he issued orders. Ray and Trent, along with several veteran team members, worked seamlessly together to set everything up.
The cameras were aimed at a building across the street, about thirty meters away, a two-and-a-half-story structure.
Outside the house, an armed pickup truck was parked, and at the entrance stood an officer in military uniform wearing a red beret, accompanied by several of General Lionheart’s soldiers.
Local residents dared not approach, indicating the special nature of this house.
Upstairs, Jason and the others began to set up surveillance, while Long Zhan, responsible for guarding the first floor, also fulfilled his duties.
He checked whether the doors and windows were locked and looked for any other exits like tunnels on the first floor.
He assessed where the alley outside the back door led, identified potential shooting points in the surrounding buildings, and evaluated the risks of retreating through the back door.
Such checks were necessary to avoid panicking when the time came to act.
After about an hour and a half, Jason and the others on the second floor were already in position, beginning the 24-hour monitoring of the target building.
Long Zhan knew that Samir would not arrive until tomorrow, so he laid his black robe on the ground, covered himself with a blanket, and fell asleep.
Sleeping on the transport plane had been truly torturous, allowing for very poor sleep quality, making it almost impossible to enter deep sleep.
Now that he had the conditions to sleep properly, and with safety measures in place, Long Zhan felt it was necessary in order to keep himself in a good mental state.
A night passed without incident!
After a comfortable night's sleep, Long Zhan woke up feeling refreshed just as dawn broke.
He took out his military rations for breakfast, checked the time, and removed the 3x scope from his rifle before heading to the window.
He lifted a corner of the curtain used for concealment, sat on a stool, and began observing the target house.
General Lionheart clearly valued this meeting highly, as even early in the morning, there was not a single soldier missing at the entrance, maintaining a state of high alert.
Some soldiers even stayed on site to eat breakfast, having their food be brought to them.
Due to the town's proximity to the capital, the flow of people is very large, even at just past 7 in the morning, the streets were filled with vehicles.
This added some complications to Long Zhan's surveillance, but fortunately, the issues were not too severe.
Long Zhan did not need to identify every person entering the house, he just needed to wait for the car from his memory to appear, and then he could notify Jason.
Less than half an hour later, an SUV appeared outside the target building. The shiny silver paint of the "cool" car glimmered in the sunlight, making it hard for Long Zhan not to notice it.
"Bravo 1, this is Bravo 6. A suspicious target has appeared. Do you see it?"
"Bravo 1 received. Checking now."
Upon hearing Long Zhan's report over the radio, Jason immediately crouched and moved to the monitor, just in time to see an armed man open the car door and drag a woman wearing a hood out of the vehicle.
Instead of the expected Samir, Jason saw that Boko Haram had brought a woman hostage wearing a hood, which made him feel that something was off.
He quickly switched to the command channel and called out, "Calling Operations Center, this is Bravo 1. An unidentified target has been discovered. Please respond."
"Operations Center received."
Mandy had already taken command at the operations center. Upon hearing the call, she immediately switched to the surveillance feed and said, "The video shows a hooded prisoner who has been moved to the front of the car. Is it her?"
"Confirmed!" Jason replied.
At that moment, for some unknown reason, the armed man holding the woman removed her black hood in the video.
"Pause the video, lock onto the prisoner and zoom in!"
Mandy shouted immediately, and the surveillance operator in the intelligence team quickly responded, pausing the monitor remotely.
They zoomed in on the area where the woman was located, making her face clear.
"Oh my God, how can it be her?"
Seeing the enlarged image of the haggard, disheveled yet unmistakably familiar face, Mandy was shocked and in disbelief.
