Chapter 3 This Woman Is Extraordinary

Leaving the Prime Minister’s residence, Wen Xueling headed for the mansion of her scumbag father’s sworn enemy—the General-of-Pacifying-the-Nation’s Estate.

To exact revenge, power and wealth were indispensable. With her past life’s memories, she could leverage some influence. And the Grand General’s Estate was precisely the “east wind” she needed to borrow!

Wen Xueling stood in the shadows, observing, recalling her past life. In that life, raging blizzards devastated the northern frontier, leaving countless frozen corpses. Deputy General Liang, Liang Nianyu, the sole son of Grand General Liang Jue, had taken out all the military’s provisions and personally led rescue efforts for nearby villages. Wen Xueling could never forget his name.

Enemy forces then launched a surprise attack. He returned to the battlefield, but due to lack of provision reinforcements, he ultimately died in battle on the frontier. In this life, less than three months remained until his death. As long as provisions and reinforcements followed, he would surely turn defeat into victory. He was a benefactor who had once selflessly served the people; she still wished to save him. More importantly, she now needed the power of the Grand General’s Estate to gain connections and establish herself in the capital.

Her past life’s memories were her sharpest weapon. Making Liang Jue believe her was not difficult. A simple investigation would reveal her connection to the Prime Minister’s residence, and Liang Jue and her scumbag father had always been irreconcilable foes……

For three consecutive days, the Grand General’s Estate received secret intelligence every night. Initially, Liang Jue didn’t believe it, until the events described in the letters proved true, down to the exact time. A guard hastily delivered tonight's secret letter. Liang Jue opened the envelope.

[Half a month from now, a heavy blizzard will arrive. Two months later, the Northern Barbarians will launch a surprise attack, and Liang Nianyu will die in battle.]

He frowned. “Still delivered by a street urchin?”

“No, it was a woman. She’s been placed in the back courtyard.”

Wen Xueling knew that if she had delivered this prophetic letter directly three days ago, Liang Jue would have shown no reaction. But by sending several, and having all their predictions come true, he would have no choice but to believe. Hearing movement behind her, she turned to see a tall, imposing figure striding towards her in the night. She understood in her heart: Liang Jue already believed her words.

A moment later, in the quiet study. Liang Jue looked at the young woman who had removed her veil. His scrutinizing pupils suddenly widened in astonishment—this woman resembled that person so strikingly! She subtly raised her head, catching the emotion in his eyes, and quietly noted it before introducing herself.

Liang Jue asked curiously, “You are clearly Wen Jingshu’s daughter, yet you wish to cooperate with this General?” He remembered that the letters she sent contained many secrets of the Prime Minister’s residence. He had assumed it was an enemy of Wen Jingshu, never expecting it to be his country-bumpkin daughter.

Wen Xueling countered, “Why not?” “An enemy's enemy is a friend.”

In her past life, the Grand General’s Estate had sacrificed itself for the country, not a single member surviving. Even she, imprisoned in Slave City, had heard of this. He was a good general, dedicated to his country and its people; there was no doubt about that.

Liang Jue saw the resolute look in her eyes, her unyielding backbone, possessing quite the aura of a general’s offspring. This straightforward nature was quite appealing. He let out a hearty laugh. “Good, I agree to cooperate with you.”

The words had barely left his lips when Wen Xueling handed him a thick stack of papers, her gaze calm and unwavering. Liang Jue, upon seeing the contents: “?” The cèzi was filled with records of individuals closely tied to the Prime Minister’s residence, and many of her scumbag father’s opportunities for gaining imperial favor in her past life.

Wen Xueling stated, “A faithless one deserves……execution.” Had she appeared without reason or cause, Liang Jue naturally wouldn't have trusted her. Instead, it was this hatred that facilitated cooperation between them.

“Ten days from now is the blizzard night.” Even riding swiftly along the official roads from the capital, without rest, it would still take seven or eight days to reach the northern frontier. Not to mention the matters of gathering provisions and reinforcements, which also required reporting to the Emperor, and whether imperial approval would be granted remained unknown.

Liang Jue’s face darkened, and he said solemnly, “How do you know these things?”

“In Rong Kingdom, there’s more than just the Imperial Advisor who possesses the ability of ‘Heavenly Insight’.” The Imperial Advisor of Rong Kingdom, a figure like an exiled immortal, possessed the ability to predict the future and was regarded by the world as a god descended to earth.

For a brief moment, Liang Jue felt disoriented. Her confident eyes increasingly resembled that person’s, yet he also felt it impossible; that person had already died on the battlefield over ten years ago, so how could she have left behind any descendants? Never mind, what was there to fear in believing her?

The two officially reached an agreement for cooperation.

After she left, the bookshelf behind Liang Jue shifted to either side, revealing a man dressed in a moon-white brocade robe. The jade pendant, symbolizing his status, gently swayed at his waist. Liang Jue looked at the man’s exquisitely handsome face and smiled, “This woman is extraordinary. You should be careful.”

Those indifferent, cold eyes glanced towards the direction Wen Xueling had departed. “I just fear her abilities might not be enough to support her ambition.”

Under the moonlight, Wen Xueling’s silhouette remained resolute.

Wen Xueling had also requested a unit of hidden guards from Liang Jue and located the ill-gotten gains her scumbag father had hidden in a villa outside the city in her past life. These funds were of suspicious origin; even if they were discovered, they wouldn’t dare to investigate too openly.

How should she slowly lead them into the trap? First feign weakness, then deliver a fatal blow?

Three days had passed since her fourth brother’s promise to pick them up “tomorrow morning.”

Today, as the morning light barely glimmered, Wen Jinli finally arrived! He even brought famous pastries from the capital: Yao’s Peach Blossom Crisps.

“Mother, Ling’er, try these. These Peach Blossom Crisps are a specialty of the capital.”

“I just personally went to the shop and bought them for you.”

Her fingertips brushed the oil paper wrapping the pastry, her eyes darkening.

It was cold.
